Privacy policy

Last updated 21 October 2026

This page explains what personal data Game Bridge collects, why, and what you can do about it. The short version: this website sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking. The only personal data it collects is your email address, and your first name if you give it, when you sign up to the newsletter.

Who we are

Game Bridge is a games industry networking event and community in the North East of England. In this policy, “we” means the Game Bridge organisers, who are responsible for the personal data described here.

For anything about your data, contact us at facebook.com/gamebridge.

The newsletter

When you sign up, we collect your email address and, if you choose to give it, your first name. Mailchimp, the service that sends our emails, also records when and from what IP address you signed up, and whether you open our emails or click links in them.

We use this only to send you news about Game Bridge events, the GaMaYo Coach and the North East games scene. We do this because you asked us to: the legal basis is your consent. You can withdraw it at any time with the unsubscribe link in every email, or by contacting us.

We keep your details until you unsubscribe. After that, Mailchimp keeps a record that you unsubscribed so you aren’t emailed again.

Mailchimp is run by Intuit and stores data in the United States. It acts on our instructions and uses safeguards for transfers out of the UK, described in Intuit’s privacy statement.

Event tickets and the coach

Tickets for Game Bridge and the GaMaYo Coach are booked on Eventbrite, which collects your details under its own privacy policy. As the organiser, we receive your name, email address and booking from Eventbrite.

We use them to run the event you booked: checking people in, handing out free drinks, and keeping a coach passenger list, which the coach driver and a Game Bridge organiser hold on the night. We may also email you about changes to an event you’ve booked. We don’t add you to the newsletter unless you sign up to it yourself.

This website

The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. Like most web hosts, GitHub records visitors’ IP addresses to keep the service secure and running, under the GitHub privacy statement. We don’t see those records.

Fonts and images are served from this site, not from third parties. When you submit the newsletter form, your browser sends your details straight to Mailchimp.

Links to X, Facebook, Eventbrite, GaMaYo and our sponsors are ordinary links. Nothing from those sites is embedded here, and once you follow a link their own privacy policies apply.

Cookies

This website doesn’t set any cookies or store anything in your browser, so there’s nothing to accept or decline.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us:

  • for a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • to correct it if it’s wrong
  • to delete it
  • to stop or limit how we use it
  • to send it to you or another organisation in a portable format

Contact us using the details above and we’ll reply within one month. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office or call them on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we use personal data, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
